城东早春

                            杨巨源

诗家清景在新春，

绿柳才黄半未匀。

若待上林花似锦，

出门俱是看花人。

Early Spring in East City

Poets favor the more delicate early spring scene:

The willow tops are ducky yellow mixed with a pale green.

Do not wait till everything’s in bloom in the Royal Garden.

Then you’ll see hordes of flower-gazers, who say: Oh, pardon!
